Poets Express Winter

Poetry by

Serena Spinello

INANE CASUALTIES

Valiant corpses reposing-
though denied resonance of bells.

Cherubs unhinge eternity’s portal.
Why is mortality bestowing unsullied souls?
Augury emerges via severed essences.

Sorrow dims the heavenly light,
the luminosity we pursue
flickers once before relenting to iniquity.

Specters attempt to restore accord-
evil incessantly indicted at the alter.
Chaste hearts arraign the soiled ones.

A vast tragedy upon man-
malice yet to be reconciled.
Silent solutions dangle on noble clouds.
Serene resolution had appeared munificent.

Azure skies aroused accord
as shadows of sprites pursued every man.
Resonance was clear.
Genial wings danced to fairness,
contrasting the rogues that presently pursue man.

Reflections mislaid-
they probe for its restore.
Obsessive purification ensues.
Sacrosanct water sanctioned to douse populace bare-
as if that would alleviate the depravity.
Retracting time, sated with deceit and sedition.

Afar, an adrift bell bellows

Perhaps there is hope after all.
