Poets Express Winter

Poetry by

THE LOVE LETTER

Even if I hadn't known
his thens and thans
would have given him away

and besides
who else puts a letter
in a coke bottle
to be fished out
like a ship

desperate SOS

pathetic attempt to connect
bored me to cry stars
but a metaphor in his eyes
caused the chain reaction
that has become my life

and I miss my island
where things washed up
now that he knows
I'm trapped in the bottle

now that he doesn't have to
write little notes

OBLITERATED

You scribbled
on my pages

tore out the ones
before you
forcing new paragraphs

thinking
yours were so exciting
I'd forget

as if I

never happened
